The Village of Holland has appointed an interim chief of police to serve until a permanent leader is appointed. At the February 6 meeting, council tapped Lieutenant Jim Piotrowski to fill the role while the village conducts a replacement for Chief Bob Reed, who retired last year.

At a special meeting on February 12, the Metroparks Toledo board of commissioners approved a number of agreements that will benefit Glass City and International parks in Toledo. The board entered into a development agreement with Toledo for the riverwalk project.

A former Springfield Township firefighter is under investigation for alleged theft of funds from the fire department’s union membership. Jeffrey VanDromme resigned from the department January 19.

The Ohio Highway Patrol (OHP) and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission (OTIC) are collaborating to reduce fatal and injury crashes, and curb dangerous driving behaviors on the Ohio Turnpike.

Springfield Township residents are invited to use a free dumpster service three times during 2024. Located behind the township building, 7617 Angola Road, Dumpsters Days will be offered from 8 a.m.
