At Penta Career Center, nine seniors spent the 202324 year participating in the Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education (STRIVE) program through a collaborative effort between the Perrysburg Rotary Club and Penta.

The Sylvania STEM Center is closing after the summer camps season on August 2. According to Tom Burnworth, executive director, financial challenges have made the long-term viability of the center no longer possible.

Volunteers are needed to join Metroparks Toledo and Dana Inc. for trash pickup at Glass City and International Park on Wednesday, May 15, from 10 a.m.

The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, along with the Disability Aging Rail Coalition (DARC) and All Aboard Ohio, is hosting train day. The event takes place from 11 a.m.

The Village of Holland along with the Dwelling Place, Compelled Church and Wonder Ministries will kick off the 2024 summer Picture in the Park series at Strawberry Acres Park on Friday, June 7, with the Disney animated film “Cinderella.” Family activities begin at 7 p.m., with the movie to be shown at dusk. There will be popcorn, hotdogs and beverages served for free. There is a nominal fee for candy and carbonated beverages. The event also will feature a costume contest for best princess and prince.

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) has been serving Lucas County citizens for 60 years. It was founded May 8, 1964 and was the last of the 88 LSWCDs to be created in Ohio.

The Ability Center Auxiliary held its kick-off committee meeting for the fall fund-raiser recently. Co-chairs, Gwen Ames and Arlene Whelan, above, proclaimed this year’s theme “A Passion for Fashion” along with the featured color of purple in honor of Purple Heart veterans who will be recognized at the event. The style show will be held at the Pinnacle on Wednesday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
