Penta Career Center hosts fifth annual signing day event

On April 25 and 27, high school students planning to go to Penta Career Center this fall attended the fifth annual signing day. Hundreds of students signed letters of intent to enroll in career technical programs, donning official Penta baseball caps.

Penta students awarded STRIVE scholarships

At Penta Career Center, 14 seniors spent the 2022-23 year participating in the Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education (STRIVE) program through a collaborative effort between the Perrysburg Rotary Club and Penta Career Center.

Mercy Health to hold two community forums

Mercy Health will hold two community forums in May. Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health–Toledo, will share information about Mercy Health’s rich history and its commitment to the future. The focus of the forums will be to engage the community as Mercy Health continues to build a vision for the Maumee, Waterville, Perrysburg area.

SHS student recognized at Spanish honors night

On April 27, the Association of the Two Toledos held a Spanish honors night to recognize high school students who have excelled with the Spanish language throughout their high school careers. Springfield High School was represented by senior Kyla Carter, who was nominated by teacher Amy Neal.

Springfield High School students celebrate Prom 2023

On April 22, Springfield High School students attended prom at the Premier and after prom activities at the University of Toledo recreation center. Hundreds of students gathered for this year’s prom, and crowned queen and king were Jessica Mason and Chaise Milner. Comprising the queen’s court were Angelina Geronimo, Arija Grana, Armonii Grier and Carmyn Ramser-Perez. King’s court members were Bryan Dennison, Hunter Keivens, Cruz Martinez, Eddie Merrell III and Jack Semler. Prom advisors were McKenna Reitz and Katie Crago, and after prom was sponsored by the SHS Academic Boosters; president, Dorianne Cox, with support from booster Jenni King. Trustees take action against East Mall Drive hotel

After months of wrangling with the owners of Quality Inn, 1401 East Mall Drive, the Springfield Township trustees are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. At the May 1 meeting, Administrator Mike Hampton said he and township Law Director Kent Murphree met with the Lucas County prosecutor’s office on April 19 and he agreed to draft a letter to the six partners in the hotel.

180th Fighter Wing conducts readiness exercises this weekend

Airmen assigned to the Ohio National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing will participate in a large-scale readiness exercise, May 4 to 7, at the base behind Toledo Express Airport in Swanton. The exercise assesses the 180 Fighter Wing’s ability to survive and operate in challenged environments.

TMWC ‘Recovery Together’ health and resource fair
