The Springfield Beautification Committee has been up and running, and brought back a building favorite– Ceiling Tile Student Art. The members held their first round of inviting student input of the selection of tiles back in the fall.

Expanding opportunities for Springfield students

Springfield Local Schools remains committed to providing students with career exposure through the use of multimedia. Over the past two years, funding secured through an Expanding Opportunities Grant has allowed the district to add two digital audio recorders providing students the ability to conduct remote (not in classroom/studio) interviews.

Authors, Animals and Art planned for Saturday

I-475 interchange to be named after Keith Earley

An Ohio House bill honoring former Lucas County Engineer Keith Earley, who died in 2021 after a battle with cancer, advanced during a committee vote earlier this week. HB 54 received unanimous support from the transportation committee.

Notre Dame Academy rowing team sets new world record

Concept2—an American manufacturer of rowing equipment and exercise machines— confirmed that Notre Dame Academy’s rowing team broke the world record in large team longest continual row. The 64-hour record was set over President’s Day weekend.

Cemetery clean-up in April

The annual spring clean-up of the Springfield Township Cemetery by the Department of Public Services will begin in April. Andrew Hohlbein, cemetery sexton, is asking that all winter grave decorations and other items, including shepherd hooks, which are not permitted, be removed from gravesites by April 1, or the cemetery attendants will remove them.
