Body
One of the things I pride myself on is being able to attend a lot of events for the students. Students enjoy seeing their teachers there and yes sometimes they even like seeing the principal. I’m always so excited for the kids and it just makes for an awesome time as you watch them compete, perform, play or just represent our community. During these times, I am reminded how lucky I am to be the principal of Springfield High School.

The seventh and eighth grade cross country team is led by first year coach Eleanor Kosek. They competed in the Northern Lakes League championships on October 2, at Whiteford Valley Golf Course. Anna Taylor placed 17th, competing against nearly 100 other athletes. Jacob Franks and Tayler Tanberg both finished in the top 30 out of 99 runners.

Napoleon, Findlay overwhelm Springfield in clashes

It was an unwelcome evening for the Blue Devils in week five and an even rougher Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division opener as the visiting Napoleon Wildcats uncharacteristically attacked through the air en route to a 426 victory, followed by a 53-0 drubbing at the hands of the Findlay Trojans in week six.

Blue Devils emerge victorious despite ugly second quarter

Many a gridiron coach will preach the utmost importance of playing four-quarter football, a cliché but nonetheless true adage of never letting up in order to win the game. While Springfield found themselves on the winning end a week ago, and again over Start to the tune of a 3328 triumph, they went through a really rough patch of football that made the win a more difficult accomplishment than it needed to be.

Lady Devils softball campaign ends at regionals

Beating a great team three times in one season is a tall order, but the Springfield varsity girls softball team managed to do that against Perrysburg–a team consistently ranked in the top 10 across the state of Ohio in Division I–in 2023.

Gymnasts to compete at Nationals

Three competitive gymnasts from Exceleration Gymnastics Center (EGC) in Toledo, owned by Kevin and Jennifer Lambdin, recently qualified to compete at Nationals in Florida. Aizlin Westcott, of Rossford, is the only qualifying female athlete on the team.

Italian Football League championship game coming to Toledo on July 1

A historic event for Italian and European American football will take place this summer as the University of Toledo’s Glass Bowl Stadium will host the XLII Italian Bowl. The 42nd installment of the Italian Football League (IFL) championship will be played in the United States for the first time ever on July 1.

Athlete of the Week

Athlete of the Week Chiara Bottini Chiara Bottini is an Italian exchange student at Springfield High School. Embracing the experience of American competitive dance, she did a fantastic job at regionals and at the state dance competition.
